Nitty

Nitty is an up and coming Drum & Bass producer and DJ based in Leeds influenced by the UK Bass scene.

We were tasked to produce a logo, Facebook cover, Soundcloud banner with a distinctive pattern design with the colour scheme of green and purple. It needed to be distinctive so that can it be transferred onto other media’s while still keeping its identity. We used subtle but powerful triangular shapes to form the pattern. The outcome came out well and we had excellent feedback from Nitty.

Perspex

We traveled to the depths of Dudley Street Space Station to capture the video of “Perspex – Jesus On The Valium”. Filmed and edited by the Melted Magic Club, music by Perspex.

Perspex are an outfit who won’t stay in the wardrobe – always changing their colours, wrestling with Mr sonic possibilities upon an old sofa bed made from chart hit formulas and fuzz pedals. Through a love of angular guitar music, 70s krautrock and 60s girl groups, The golden boys have crafted what they call “Plastik Muzik” – a term coined on pink sugar paper in the arsehole of a 7-day brainstorm. After gigging up and down the country, a tightness has been reached, an act has been born.

We filmed and directed the different shots from the confines of a back to back house in depths of York. After capturing the footage we headed to the studio to process and edit. The aim was to create a video that reflected the fuzzy sound of the band. We purposely lowered the quality of the video adding a grain effect to supplement this style.

The photography compliments the video as a visual reference.

To celebrate the release of their new tune, Perspex played a gig at Oporto in Leeds. We kept the poster clean taking inspiration from the Swiss-style movement. The colour scheme mirrors the 70s colour pallet style using less saturated hues.

Sub:stance Recording

Sub:stance Recordings are a Leeds-based recording label boasting some of the hottest new talents in Drum & Bass. Their debut album ‘Controlled Substances’ reached number 2 in the Juno charts. One of the tracks ‘Manuel – Dance Get Sweet’ hit over 22 thousand streams in two months. Since then, they’ve been hosting events around nightclub clubs to packed crowds. We have created a clear, concise logo design using simple but effective typography. We also designed a graffiti style illustration to sit alongside the logo. The illustration had to be easily transferred to other mediums while still keeping its strong brand identity.

Since both designs have taken form in different mediums including some beautiful T-shirts. We’ve included some of our favourites below. They have used the logo well and it compliments their outlook as a brand and a recording label. The simplistic text on the main logo looks well embroidered on a T-shirt – it looks stylish and it’s easily readable, making it a rememberable design, which will essentially promote the company. Both logos have been featured on many of their posters, photographs from events, plus album and EP covers. Take a look for yourself on their Facebook or see if you can spot the logo in/around Leeds.
